ANGLO-SAXON GLASS FROM THE EARLY MIDDLE AGES

(1/1)

Phyllis:
I came across this blog post today and thought it might be of interest

David:
Did any of the Anglo-Saxons make glass from scratch or was it all recycled?

Phyllis:
All I know is that glass makers were brought over to Northumbria early on but my assumption has been that later glass was made more natively. Perhaps others might be better informed?

Some time ago I also found this article on coloured glass, which doesn't specify location but certainly implies at least some was made in Britain.
